How to Wet Apply a Clear Decal

Certain decal products, like clear decals and window clings, require a wet application. Proper installation is crucial for creating a strong bond that is long-lasting and looks great. We've put together this simple five step guide to teach you how to use the wet application method.

Step 1:

Tools Needed

Clear Decal
Paper Towels
Plastic Applicator Squeegee or Credit Card
Surface cleaner, rubbing alcohol, or glass cleaner

Step 2:

Clean the Surface

Make sure the surface is thoroughly clean and dry. Any debris can weaken the adhesion. Use warm soapy water, rubbing alcohol, or other common household items for a good clean. Be sure to wipe away any leftover cleaning product residue with a dry cloth before moving on to the next step.

Step 3:

Applying the Clear Window Decal

Before you peel away the backing, spray the surface with a light soapy water or glass cleaner. Then peel away the backing and apply the clear decal to the wet surface.

Step 4:

Squeegee out Liquid

Gently take a rubber squeegee or a credit card and remove the liquid. Start in the middle of the clear decal and slowly work the liquid out from behind the decal.

Step 5: Enjoy!

Wipe away the liquid around the clear decal so that your surface is dry. Be sure that your clear decal is straight and looks good. Enjoy your brand new clear decal!
